About Me

My name is Michael Hoexter and I work in the marketing of energy efficient products and services and renewable energy in California.   I’m a LEED-AP, have a background in psychology (Ph.D. from Michigan), software development and sales. My Green Thoughts blog and site, is a place to read about and discuss issues related to clean energy policy, the marketing and selling of greener products and services as well as the technical issues that impact the market.  My commitment is to connect our language and actions to the scientific, technical, and economic realities of saving the climate that has been so good to us, while rebuilding our economy.

Due to the urgency of the climate crisis, I have been focusing mostly on a concept called the “electron economy” which I have renamed the “renewable electron economy”. The long series of posts that I have written on the renewable electron economy have started to yield a picture of what a clean energy economy might look like in the not too distant future.

I have seen both sides of environmental issues having been involved in conventional auto sales as well as in green activism. I bring a perspective to green markets that sees both the reasons why people don’t do “the right thing” as well as why they do. I will be blogging more about these issues in the months to come.

Post your ideas about these subjects on my blog or send me an email at michael dot terraverde AT gmail dot com!

Hello Michael!

Thanks for writing the article about eco-certification…….

I’ve started the process of developing one in one of our larger industries…

And I’m already feeling inclined to ask you to be on the Board if we made a strong connection!

Where are you located? (I’m in Santa Monica, CA)….. And if the idea interested you enough…..would be interested on being on the board of an upcoming new eco-certification program?

Sincerely,

Elinor Averyt

Hello Michael-

I first came across your blog through your article on futurelab, and have spent the last hour reading several of your articles–very good stuff, and incredibly helpful. I can’t tell you how much time you have saved me in my own research endeavors, thankyou. I am a freelance writer and am doing a small piece (1000 words or so) for CMYK magazine in San Francisco. The magazine’s demographic is aspiring or newly established creatives in the design/advertising world. I am writing a piece on green advertising/marketing. The depth will be fairly shallow, more an introduction to the new marketplace, findamentals of green marketing, a brief history, trends, examples of good campaigns, etc.. I’d like to do a sidebar of Top Ten “best” or “hottest” green advertising firms to work for, and am researching ways to qualify these ten. Interested in your thoughts, and any help you might be able to offer. This is a great blog, keep up the good work.
Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you.

Feed-in Tariffs: Getting off the Renewables Roller Coaster …thank you for that Mike. Your insight and cautious approach to finger pointing made that article a very good read and something that i have linked to multiple contacts of mine who need to understand the FIT struggle in this country/state of California. I am now very linked to your blog and your thoughts and i thank you again.

Vincent.

Michael,
Most impressed with your fine collection of research into what is an industry unfolding before our very eyes. I have played a limited role in this industry over the past 4 years, but is now beginning to take up more and more of my time and effort.

LakeShore is a verification body under the Center for Resource Solutions Green-e Program. We are working towards accreditation under the CARB program and always seeking out new avenues and partnerships. I look forward to reading more of your posts and hope to cross paths again soon.
